The Black Philanthropic Alliance (BPA), in partnership with Woolly Mammoth Theatre and Straight, No Chaser Films, presents a  screening of The MLK Streets Project, a documentary film co-produced by One Common Unity and "A Nu View" Youth Crew," and community discussion featuring panelists Rain Pryor, director, actor, stand-up comedian and educator (http://www.rainpryor.com); Terri Freeman, President/CEO of the Community Foundation of the National Capital Region; Ray Bell Jr. of the HOPE Project; Joseph Speight, Principal at Friendship Southeast Elementary Academy; and, moderated by Dr. Jared Ball, Associate Professor of Communication Studies at Morgan State University and producer of BlackAgendaReport.com and Super Funky Soul Power Hour on Washington, DC WPFW 89.3 FM Pacifica Radio.

The MLK Streets Project is a revealing documentary film following 8 Washington, DC high school students as they travel cross-country to observe and record, first-hand, the condition of America's MLK streets with a historic, geographic, economic and racial viewpoint. Three years in the making, the film was created through the A Nu View youth filmmaking program, an innovative arts-media education experience and funded in part by the DC Commission on the Arts and Humanities, The Community Foundation for the National Capital Region, and the Humanities Council of Washington, DC.

Celebrating the Martin Luther King, Jr. holiday and the recent unveiling of the national monument dedicated to Dr. King, the film screening will include a cocktail reception and a community discussion regarding the current state of MLK streets in relation to Dr. King's "Dream."
