While you are free to arrive in New Orleans whenever you'd like (and many attendees in past years arrived a day early or stayed a day late to maximize the vacation), the first official event that's included in your registration fee will be a casual Friday night dinner where food and drinks will be provided.
On Saturday, explore New Orleans on your own or break into groups. We'll have more information about unofficial activities for Saturday morning and afternoon posted on the website and Group Activities page at a later date. We will gather for dinner Saturday night at Tujagues Restaurant.
Sunday breakfast will also be provided.

When and where is the Blathering this year?We’ll be heading to New Orleans from November 9-11, 2012. We can’t wait! (Last year’s queso is this year’s beignets. Oh carbs, we are coming for you.) What does the $150 registration fee cover?
We’ll have a casual, Friday-night party where dinner, drinks, and dessert (can we top those delicious cupcakes in Austin? We’re gonna try!) will be served. Then, there will be a sit-down, fancier Saturday night dinner at Tujagues restaurant. (Menu and details to come.) Finally, Sunday breakfast will be served.
When can we expect dining and hotel details?
Check the site often for updates. We've already shared some details with you regarding Saturday's dinner and we’re hard at work trying to pick the best choices for the rest of the Blathering. While we are thrilled to offer a discounted hotel recommendation, lodging is still ultimately up to you. Book wherever you find a great deal, a great view, or a great happy hour special.
Why the price increase from last year?Unfortunately, the organizers lost money in 2011, and we simply didn’t want that to happen again. We budgeted to ensure the event could stay awesome while the organizers could stay sane. Why are the registration tickets non-refundable and non-transferable? We realize it’s tough to plan a year in advance, and we certainly don’t want to make things more difficult for our attendees. We like you guys! But, we also hope you understand we need to keep registration as simple as possible because of previous years’ experience. This policy allows us to plan and budget correctly for this year. Are the organizers making money from the Blathering?No, the organizers don't make money. While we do take payment in the form
of strong tequila shots on Bourbon Street, the Blathering organizers are doing this because we love and believe in the event.When will registration close?We have 60 spots for all official events and we’ll close registration either when those spots are fully reserved or on September 14, 2012. Whichever comes first.Do you think the event will sell out?Well, we can’t be sure. We suggest registering as early as possible to ensure you can come, but we know money doesn’t just appear in bank accounts when we wish it to (damn, right?). We think you’ll have at least a few months to decide and save before anyone starts to panic. (The Blathering is a panic-free zone!) We do promise to update the Blathering Twitter feed (@theblathering) if and when registration gets close to selling out.Where can I send additional event questions?We’d love to hear from you!
