The San Francisco chapter of the Institute for International Film Financing (IIFF) continues its popular monthly gatherings at the junction of film & finance with a special Film Financing Townhall at the renowned Academy of Art. Their facilities are conveniently located just a short stroll from SF Caltrain Station at 4th & King.
This grassroots community get-together is designed to foster & inform productive relationships between attendees. This month's Film Financing Townhall in San Francisco is hosted by the esteemed Academy of Art, a leading private university founded in 1929 in San Francisco. With nearly 10,000 students that occupy its 30+ buildings in downtown San Francisco, AAU is considered the largest private school of art and design in the United States. It offers both traditional on-campus and online distance-education degree and certificate programs in a wide variety of fine arts-related majors, including Motion Pictures & Television and Animation & Visual Effects. Director of the Oakland Film Office for 13 years during which she attracted and supported productions such as The Matrix II & III, Pursuit of Happyness, the Bee Season, Mistress of Spices and hundreds of other feature and short films, television, commercial, music video, documentary and student film productions. Ami produced film screenings, advised developing filmmakers and spearheaded the creation of the Oakland Film Center - an incubator of approximately 25 film support businesses. Ami is a graduate of Laney College and San Francisco State University, where she completed her Masters in Theater Arts. Prior to running the film office, Ami directed over a dozen plays and taught at local colleges. Ami is excited to have wrapped up her work with the OFO and to return to teaching, consulting and working on her own creative projects with a focus on social justice. »

 Dr. Rosenberg is a licensed psychotherapist, educator, researcher, business consultant and financier/producer with 25 years of experience working with film, video, TV and emerging technologies. He is the Founder and President at Media Research Associates (MRA), a San Francisco-based consulting firm specializing in qualitative knowledge-based research, examining the relationship between story, structure, symbol, image, emotion and the user experience in all media. Rosenberg is also a Founding Partner and Executive Producer at Front Street Pictures, a Vancouver and Los Angeles-based independent film company that has completed numerous feature films since 1999. Recent productions include "The Deal," starring Christian Slater, Selma Blair, Robert Loggia and Angie Harmon, which premiered at the 2004 AFI Fest; and "We Don't Live Here Anymore," starring Naomi Watts, Mark Ruffalo, Laura Dern and Peter Krause, which premiered, won an award, and sold at Sundance in 2004, and was subsequently released by Warner Independent. Front Street also produces a steady stream of made-for-TV movies in a production services capacity for domestic and international broadcast networks including Lifetime, Global and TF1. Dr. Rosenberg received his M.A. from the New School for Social Research in New York City and earned his Ph.D. in clinical/social psychology at Saybrook Graduate School in San Francisco. »
Moderator
Sheridan Tatsuno is a seasoned businessman with over 30 years of experience in the high-tech and urban planning industries. He began his film career by advising a student on a video class assignment, which won the 1980 PBS Documentary of the Year Award, namely "Survivors" about California survivors of the Hiroshima and Nagasaki bombings. During Japan's heyday in the 1980s, he wrote two business books on Japan, "The Technopolis Strategy" and "Created in Japan," which were optioned, respectively, by Central Independent Television plc of London for "Japan Dreaming" (1991) and by Alvin Perlmutter Inc. of New York for the four-hour PBS series "The Creative Spirit" (1992). Since 1991, Mr. Tatsuno has written 12 screenplays and is currently writing two screenplays slated for independent production, as well as brainstorming two new scripts. He is a member of FilmAngels and the Institute for International Film Financing. In the high-tech industry, Mr. Tatsuno has advised over 700 companies in the US, Japan, Asia and Europe, while working as a senior analyst at leading market researcher Dataquest/Gartner Group (1982-1989) and his own consulting firm, Dreamscape Global (1989-present). A visionary thinker, Silicon Valley business strategist and thought leader, Mr. Tatsuno was involved with the early stages of the "Intel Inside" marketing campaign, Nokia's global strategy planning, AMD's breakthrough sub-$1000 PC, and Canon's networked equipment strategy. His strength is helping companies develop breakthrough strategies. Currently, he is advising a videoconferencing startup and is conducting surveys on medical imaging, solar panels, fuel cells, batteries for electric cars and smart grids. A Wall Street investment banker and Silicon Valley startup executive turned independent film financier, Thomas (LinkedIn profile | full bio) serves as Chairman of the Institute for International Film Financing (IIFF).
