Step Away From the Computer

A LinkedIn, Facebook and Twitter Networking Event

virtual networking handshake

Whether you're a LinkedIn devotee, a rabid Facebook friendaholic, or one of the Twitter Tweeple, join us for some good, old-fashioned, face-to-face networking. Step away from the computer for a few hours to meet some cool folks and build your network at the same time.

We all have opportunites to meet people "like" us; similar skills, similar industry, similar age group. There is also benefit to our networking efforts to get to know others from diverse backgrounds and with different skill sets entirely.

So here's the deal...

Location listed over to the right. It's a large venue right off of 880 in Fremont. Fremont? Yeah, Fremont. No location is perfect for everyone, but this has lots of parking and is near the freeway. Sign-up with a friend, carpool, do what you need to do. BART station is about 10 minutes away and we can probably get you a ride from there is need be (people have helped out easily for other events).

This is not just an open mixer with loud, blaring music. Those are fun, but you can only shout at a limited number of people and don't really get to know much about them beyond exchanging business cards. This is different. Think speed dating meets business networking - You'll meet a number of different people for a fixed period of time, then move on to someone else.

  • Having a great conversation? You can connect with them later on in person or in the virtual world.
  • Having a pointless conversation? Well, you're not stuck there for long and can gracefully move on.
  • Shy about meeting new people? No problem, this is structured to take all the awkwardness out of it.

To participate, it is important that you arrive on time and plan to stay until the end. Otherwise, things get really complicated. Event starts at 5:30 pm. Things get officially rolling at 6:00 pm, so it is important that you are there by 5:50 and stay until at least 7:30, OK?

The important stuff - Food and drinks...

Light food to be provided. No-host bar.

Prizes and Sponsors

If you're interested in providing raffle prizes or sponsoring this or a future Linking Northern California event, get in touch with me right away at contact almostsavvy com. I'd love to talk with you!

What happens after 7:30 pm?

Have you been to The Saddle Rack before? It is a ton of fun! On Wednesdays at 7:30, they begin line-dancing lessons and you are invited to join in. As attendees of this event, you don't even have to pay the cover charge. Feel free to dance, hang out with your new or old friends or head over to one of the restaurants at Pacific Commons which is nearby.

Before the event, I will send a few tips to you regarding how to prepare for this type of event, so keep a lookout for an email from almostsavvy.

After the event, I will forward the contact information for all attendees to you, so don't worry if you didn't get a chance to meet everyone. Just to be really, really clear...this information is for networking purposes only - do not add folks to your email list, send them sales materials or resumes without their persmission. (Don't even think about it, OK?)

Please note that the charge will appear as "First Thing Tomorrow" or "FirstThingT"

on your credit card or bank statement.

How can I help you use social media and networking for your business, career or connecting with those most important to you?

If you are looking for a social media guru who uses a lot of tech-speak, you've come to the wrong place. If you are looking for a coach, consultant or speaker who will explain things in a way that is easy to understand, you are in the right place.

Social media is very new and anyone who claims they are a guru likely isn't. What are your goals and how can I help you achieve them?
