 "The Ass Chronicles"

The “Ass Chronicles One Woman Show” is written, produced and performed by Maryland-based playwright Empress Joyner, "Every Tail Has a Tale to Tell" is a liberating, healing and comedic depiction of the struggles, loves and woes of a woman's life through dealing with her "ass" against the world.  Because of my experiences, I just wanted to share these stories with the world in hopes of encouraging women to embrace themselves, their unique body type and have a positive self-image." It has been coined as the “new millennium For Colored Girls”.  This piece speaks to women’s issues relevant to today nationally and globally especially in this time where media plays such an influential role in how the world pictures and embraces women, beauty and body-image. Because "EVERY TAIL HAS A TALE TO TELL"

I KILLED MY BABYS DADDY

Takes a look into the transformation that occurs when an older woman has a child with a younger man. This solo work tracks a woman’s journey falling in and out of love, struggling with the pains of birth and raising a child. This humorous and inventive story gives voice to women who find themselves abandoned by love, left with a baby, and asking God what’s next.  I Killed My Baby’s Daddy forces the audience to hear all the things that some mothers’ feel but are forbidden to say.  The play gives voice and agency to African – American inner city women.
