As many in the dirt biking community have heard, one of our own, Neil Slater was involved in a horrendous crash out at Speedworld on December 14th. Neil suffered a broken back, broken left arm, broken ribs down the left side of his body, compound fracture of his left shoulder, collapsed lung and hemorrhaging in his brain.
On January 15, 2009. After a courageous 31 day battle, Neil lost the gallant fight of his life following a horrendous dirt bike accident at Speedworld in Whitman, Arizona on December 14, 2008 when he succumbed to complications of his injuries. Born in New York, Neil was 1 of 3 boys born to William and Betty Slater and the beloved husband of Mary E. Slater for nearly 30 years. Neil will forever be remembered by his brothers; Irwin and Edward Slater, his much loved step-son, Jeffrey Howe, granddaughters; Amanda Boyd, Angela Thompson, Alisha Thompson and Amber Howe, grandson, Jeffrey Howe Jr., and great-grandsons; Logan Boyd, and Owen Boyd and countless friends and others whom were blessed to have known him. Neil was the owner of Neil's Air Conditioning in Phoenix and touched the hearts of many people with his ever-present smile and gentle kindness. Neil was an active member of AMA, AMRA and ATR. He died doing what he loved most with his friends and family
Obviously, this is a bad situation and and everyone has Neil, and is family, in their thoughts and prayers. However, Neil also ran his own buisness so if you can help out with a financial donation for hospital bills, life, etc... the Arizona Trail Riders and the Arizona Motorcycle Riders Association would greatly appreciate your support.
