Tutorial: 2:30-5:00pm
This is the first in a series of seminars to address specific applications, and resources that are useful to a system administrator in a tutorial style manner. Learn how to use specific tools, and share tips/tricks with your peers.
The session topics are getting finalized, but possibilities include:
nmap, nessus, snort, tripwire, ip filter, ethereal, netstat, tcpdump, ngrep, sleuthkit, syslog-ng, snare, sec, argus
Confirmed Topics:
nmap, metasploit, canvas - Kurt Grutzmacher, and Garrett Gee, who work for a large non-profit financial institution
Kurt Grutzmacher has been performing security assessments for a large financial institution in the Bay area for the past 6 years. For a number of years prior he built large IP-based networks for the same institution before going to the grey side of hacking and pentesting. He has a CISSP but don't hold that against him. He does not have a website or blog and prefers e-mail and mailing lists for communication instead of RSS feeds from some random Internet user."
Garrett Gee has been involved in the information security field for 10 years. After several years doing security research for a three letter agency, he moved into pentesting for a large financial institution. Gee has worked on a number of open-source projects and has authored several papers on security related technologies.
