Event Details

After three successful multi-week programs for the Program for Launching Artistic Enterpreneurs (or P.L.A.E. for short) I have decided to put together a two day weekend intensive specifically geared towards arts entrepreneurs with ideas for an arts based business.

At this weekend you will hear from PLAE alumni, lawyers, producers, and business owners and have the opportunity to network with other entrepreneurs who are passionate about the arts. Look forward to seeing you there!

A little bit about the vision of PLAE: In our education system we have been training our artists to be really good at one thing: Doing art in a utilitarian sense. Many school systems have turned art into a part of the crumbling industrial complex and are pumping out hundreds of thousands of artists who do one job for others and nothing else. The systems are low on managers and we are bankrupt when it comes to entrepreneurs. The mission of the Program for Launching Arts Entrepreneurs (PLAE) is to educate artists and give them a choice to manage a business or create a business rather than work for one. The vision is for the program to expand and for participants in PLAE to start their own arts based businesses with the goal of having five of these alumni running fortune 500's or higher within the next five years. The future belongs to the artists and the platforms they create. It's time to stop hoping someone else will fund us and fund ourselves.

To your success,

Michael Roderick
