Event Details

Often when organizations design workshops for girls around the risk factors associated with sex the conversation primarily revolves around STD and pregnancy prevention; or scare tactics are used in the hope that girls will abstain. While STD and pregnancy prevention information is vital, the missing element is the emotional and psychological impact that premature and casual sex can have on girls and young women for years to come.  Long term implications need to be addressed as well, such as: depression that comes from feeling discarded after the fact, the sense of unfulfilled longing that comes from trying to meet one's emotional needs through sex, the loss of self-worth and self-value that comes from casual sex with multiple partners, the feelings of disappointment that come from unmet expectations, the inability to create and sustain healthy emotional attachments as a result of buying into the no-strings-attached hook-up trend, the inability to bring closure to toxic relationships because there is a sexual connection and so much more.

Topics covered in this workshop include:

·         What the research says about teens and premature sex with an emphasis on girls;

·         Critical questions that every girl should ask herself before she considers engaging in sexual activity;

·         What girls truly lose out on when they engage in sex prematurely and, or with multiple partners;

·         The psychological and emotional impact of sex;

·         The science of sex...what happens biologically during and after sex and why it is vital that girls and women understand this;

Please note - Copies of Cassandra Mack's books, "Cool, Confident and Strong: 52 Power Moves for Girls," will be on sale at the discounted price of $10.00.
