January 2009 Entrepreneurs Forum:

Revenue Model Workshop

The January 2009 Entrepreneur's Forum will feature a new format - the Revenue Model Workshop. At this event we will select ~5 startups to give a brief presentation of their business, focusing on their revenue model. A panel of experts will provide insights, suggestions, and helpful alternatives for the entrepreneur to consider as methods to generate more revenue from their business more efficiently. As with other Ultra Light Startups events, this format is intended to be interactive and participatory - the audience is encouraged to provide helpful suggestions as well. Depending on the response, this format may be repeated at future Ultra Light Startups events.

Entrepreneur Presentation:

  • Presentation should be ~5 minutes long and include either slides or a brief demonstration.
  • Describe the customer/user perspective. What problem are you trying to solve and how does the user interact with the system.
  • Describe how you profit from this - your revenue model(s).
  • Entrepreneur presentations will not be video or audio taped.

Panel Analysis:

  • Investors perspective on your current business model. What benchmarks investors have in mind when making investment decisions on businesses with similar revenue models.
  • Examples of successful and failed startups with similar revenue models for comparison.
  • Creative alternative revenue models that may be worth consideration. The costs and benefits of various alternatives - cost/time to implement, volume of users required, length of sales cycle, etc.

If you are interested in having your business model analyzed at this event, send an email to ultralightstartups@gmail.com with a brief description of your startup and its revenue model
