Event Details

On June 18, 2010, one of Spartanburg's historic treasurers, the Arthur Irwin home in the Historic Hampton Heights District, went up in flames.  The blaze, which burned for several hours, consumed the roof, attics and tower. To neighbors, the home is called the flagship because of its beauty, architectural significance and gradeur.

Hampton Heights is Spartanburg’s oldest, intact residential neighborhood. We are listed on the National Register of Historic Places and we are a local historic district within the City of Spartanburg. Our Neighborhood Association focuses on honoring and maintaining our historic heritage and most importantly, carrying this history to future generations. We work toward maintaining and improving the quality of place for our residents. A neighborhood is hard work. For us, it is truly a labor of love that we are proud to share with our community.
