 Bring Your Own Laptop

This is the first of a series of workshops I will be offering on QuickBooks.  This first workshop covers the basic setup that almost all companies need.  I will show you some shortcuts in this setup process, and guide you step-by-step in the process.

In this workshop you will:

  • Create your QuickBooks Company File (skip the easy-step interview)
  • Import or input your chart of accounts, including expense categories
  • Import or input your vendor list (people and companies you pay money to)
  • Import or input your customer list (people and companies you pay money to)
  • Import your logo and design your customer invoice template
  • Determine the next steps you will need to get your software running

 

Before this workshop, you must:

  • Install Excel and QuickBooks
  • Prepare a list of your vendors / payees, if any
  • Prepare a list of your customers, if any
  • Consider what expenses and income you will track

     

    Who should attend: Small business owners who plan to do their own accounting, but have no QuickBooks experience.

     

    QuickBooks version: QuickBooks Pro 2009 for PC

     

    Using a different version?  All of the projected images and step-by-step instruction will be on the QuickBooks Pro 2009 PC version.  However, most QuickBooks, QuickBooks Pro, and QuickBooks for Mac from 2003 forward have very similar functionality and steps.  So, if you are using a different version, you can attend, and I will answer questions after the workshop about any differences in the process.  I recommend that you upgrade before attending the workshop, and I will not support the import process for other versions.
