Thinking about diving in and volunteering with Social Venture Partners' Investees? Want to expand your “toolkit” for successful volunteer engagements? This interactive 3-part series covers the key areas you need to become more connected, more powerful in your volunteering.

This Session: Building the Relationship

It starts with forming authentic, trusting relationships at the outset. This first session will explore how to set expectations, address power dynamics, and establish good communications in a new volunteer relationship.

Speakers

Kevin Phaup: As a long-time SVP Partner Kevin has worked with more than a dozen SVP Investees on projects ranging from technology needs assessments, to updating hardware and Web sites, to using the latest technology for efficient knowledge sharing. In the past three years alone, Kevin has volunteered on more than 22 individual projects, contributing well over 700 hours of service.

Kelly Stockman Reid: Even before Friends of the Children, Kelly spent nearly two decades developing programs and policies that contribute to the well-being of children and youth in Washington. She served as Executive Director of Washington State Court Appointed Special Advocates (CASA), Director of Information and Development for Head Start - Puget Sound Educational Service District, and the Training Manager for the Council for Children and Families - Washington. Kelly also served on the Children's Alliance board of directors for five years, and currently serves on the Center for Children and Youth Justice advisory committee.

Don't forget to join us at the next two sessions Scoping the Project and Managing the Project!
