Turkey's 2011 Elections: The Emergence of a Dominant Party
Speaker: Sinan Ciddi, Executive Director of the Institute of Turkish Studies, Georgetown University
The presentation will focus on Turkey's general elections, held in June 2011 that saw the re-electon of the incumbent Justice and Development Party (AKP) for a third successive term in office. Prof. Ciddi will explore the implications of this result for Turkey's party system, and the formulation of domestic and foreign policy for the 2011-15 term.
