Event Details

This years annual Christmas event will be held on the 3rd December. We hope that you can join us!

Port is one of the most emotive and interesting wines available, bringing with it hundreds of years of fascinating personalities, politics and pomp. With a history as rich and long lived as the region's wines, it is little surprise that for many it represents one of the pinnacles of fine wine. Recent decades have seen a heady rise in demand, with many international critics selecting ports for high praise (and points!) with consequent scarcity and astronomical prices.

However, few know the full range of styles and vintages available and even fewer have been fortunate enough to taste these together with fine examples of outstanding old vintages. For our Christmas event we would like welcome back Dr Ed Fitzgerald, who has hosted several memorable tastings for the Stanford Club over the past few years.

As former President of Oxford University Wine Society and an Associate Judge at the World’s largest wine tasting, the annual International Wine Challenge, Edward will guide us through a range of ports in this relaxed tutored tasting. Come and join us for a perfect way to start the holiday season! As Dr Samuel Johnson famously wrote in 1779: "Claret is the liquor for boys; port for men!"

- Wines will include:
- White port
- Ruby port
- Late Bottled Vintage
- Single Quinta

- Old Tawny

A cheese platter and refreshments will be provided.
