Event Details

James Conlon conducts LA Opera's Domingo-Thornton Young Artists and the Colburn Orchestra in an operatic double-bill inspired by LA Opera's celebrated "Recovered Voices" series.

"The Emperor of Atlantis" is a one-act opera described as a 'legend in four scenes," created in 1943 by composer Viktor Ullman and librettist Peter Kien while they were imprisoned in the Nazi concentration camp at Terezin.

It will be joined by "The Secret Kingdom" by Ernst Krenek, who emigrated to America after his works were labeled "degenerate" by the Nazis.

James Conlon will give a pre-concert lecture one hour prior to each performance.
