Please read these Frequently Asked Questions:
How do I find a hotel room for the Inauguration?
When you sign up for the Inauguration 2009 Bus Ride, you get a hotel room that is all your own. Your name is attached to the room. There is no additional cost for the room and you are free to use it however you like, and on your own schedule. You can come and go as you please without having the feeling that you’re on a school field trip.
Will there be traffic on the roads?
Absolutely! Washington is expecting to see 3 to 4 million people descend on the Capitol. Driving there on the day of the event will be a very bad idea. We planned this event to get you into Washington the day before so that you can be rested. While we do the driving, you can relax on our comfortable bus. Read a book, listen to music, we’ll even have card tables on board. If you want to catch up on some sleep, you won’t be bothered.
Can I just go for a one day trip?
Solid PlanIt doesn’t offer a one day bus ride for this event. We chose not to because of bus restrictions that most people aren’t aware of. Many operators have been offering these rides, but buyer beware. A bus driver must be off of the road 15 hours after he first begins driving. If he leaves the depot at 4AM, he has to return by 7PM. With a 4 ½ hour drive each way, that doesn’t leave much time to be at the inauguration. Also, he can’t be behind the wheel for more than 10 hours. The estimated time to go round-trip is 9 or 10 hours. If the driver is going to go over his legal limits, he has to strand you and get some sleep. This is why we don’t offer a one-day trip. Be careful of “lower priced” operators who do.
Will there be tickets to the inauguration? How close will we be able to get?
Many people have been scammed in search of these tickets. At this point, no one has a ticket to the inauguration. The only way to get a ticket is to contact your senator or congressional representative. There is absolutely no other way to get them. In fact, a statement has recently been issued by Congress reminding those that are promised tickets that it is illegal to sell them. There is a penalty of up to $100,000 for the sale of these tickets and names are attached to the tickets. Be very careful of anyone who tries to sell you a ticket to the inauguration.
Through rigorous planning, Solid PlanIt is working to get all participants in this bus ride as close as anyone legally can. We are continuously compiling information to determine the best way to give our passengers the most memorable experience possible. Many are planning to attempt to sleep on the grounds of the National Mall in advance. The Secret Service will be clearing the mall up to one hour prior to the event. You won’t waste your time in the cold , because you have a planning company on your side.
Is this trip affordable?
We are selling this trip for as little as $200 per person. That is far below the average cost of a hotel room in the DC area. Rooms are sold out as far away as Pennsylvania and we are getting you a room this close to the action. If you bring 4 people, the price is just $175 per person. Consider that you have a hotel suite with the ability to make your own meals, a free breakfast, snacks and refreshments on the bus, souvenirs and prizes. Then deduct the cost you would pay for gas, outrageously overpriced parking, and the risk of driving your car in this environment. This is a considerable savings. In addition, you will be a part of a group, meeting and interacting with others who are also excited about the event. Being with Solid PlanIt will only serve to enhance your experience.
Are there any additional costs?
NO. Once you have paid for your trip, there are no hidden or additional costs. The price we quote you is all there is to it. This is not one of the tricks to give you nothing in return for your money. We are a professional event coordination group and are staking our reputation on your satisfaction.
How is it possible that your prices are lower than other overnight trips?
We planned this trip well before Barack Obama became the president elect. The other prices you are seeing are the result of the election. We are almost entirely unaffected and are passing the benefits of our early preparation onto those of you who will take advantage.
What about the weather?
This trip all but eliminates that concern. We have hotel rooms and bus parking in Washington. We will have a shuttle to take you from our bus to the National Mall all day. This means that you can go back to the bus and relax or get warm, etc.
How do I know that this is legitimate?
We are staying at the Homewood Suites in Columbia, Maryland.

We're on the map. We are going to have personnel from a very prominent German TV station on our trip. They want footage of the diiverse group and are trying to get a view of a real set of people enjoying the making of history.
January 19th is a holiday, and many people are coming to meet us at Penn Station from outside of New York City. We strongly urge you to check your train and bus schedules to ensure that you will be able to get to the bus on time.
Neal's back on with James Hodge for some gospel music and talk. The latest news about the inauguration and the best way to get there. January 4th and 5th (technically January 5th and 6th) at 12AM-4AM.
BIG NEWS
As of December 24, the JCCIE has revamped its plan to stop buses from coming into the city. Those buses that are registered, as ours is, will have designated parking spots in the city. If you were thinking of driving in, consider that you will have to park outside of the city and take the Metro, as in the original plan. Make life easy on yourself and sleep in a hotel, with a bus to take you into the city. Imagine having a bus just a few blocks away to get on and off of at your convenience.
Kashmir Hill, journalist and blogger, after interviewing Solid PlanIt appeared on The Brian Lehrer show on NPR to talk about the inauguration. She has mentioned Solid PlanIt and included our promotional material on her blog.
Neal Kellman of Solid PlanIt will be on "Gospel All Night Into the Morning" with James Hodge from 12 to 4 AM on Monday Night (Tuesday Morning). There will be a discussion of the Inauguration and the facts of the bus ride.
The show will be live on 1240 WGBB, Long Island's Oldest Radio Station.
