With "accountability" being the buzz-word of the day, even organizations with impeccable records are feeling the wrath of the public's perception that there is a reason to mistrust nonprofits.  This issue is increasingly making a difference in the ability to obtain funds from grant-makers and the general public alike.  Good intentions, a worthwhile mission and good work by a few dedicated individuals are not enough.  Even minor missteps can cause dramatic repercussions for an organization, its board and everyone else who is affiliated with the organization.  This presentation will review many of the 'rules of the road' that you need to know in order to run a nonprofit.  Particular attention will be given to proper governance structures and oversight, corporate policies, charitable solicitation requirements and liabilities.
