Companies and individuals from the Washington, D.C. Metropolitan Area are invited to join African American Real Estate Professionals, Washington, D.C. Chapter (AAREP DC) and take advantage of the many benefits of our organization has to offer.
We encourage you to pay your AAREP DC membership dues online for the following membership period: July 1, 2007 through June 30, 2008. Our membership dues are paid annually on a program year and not a calendar year, and are not pro-rated. The benefits of our membership include: Free admission to the opening reception and Annual Holiday Party, representing a $125.00 value; Free admission to five evening lecture programs (October, November and January through March), representing a $300.00 value) Free admission to our monthly "Lunch and Learn" lectures (October through April), with lunch provided, representing a $280.00 value; Access to the Minority Internship in Commercial Real Estate (MICRE) Program, which places Howard University students in paid internships at local commercial real estate based companies/firms; Access to the Executive and Advisory Boards, which keeps us focused on new avenues for helping find professional, economic and intellectual growth opportunities; Access to our Members-Only web portal (which is in the process of being developed), which will included an on-line membership directory, audited financials, and members only special invitations to events; Free job bank postings, which enable employers and job seekers to post and search for opportunities in the commercial real estate market, (representing $100 per posting value); Access to our extensive membership network, through participation on our committees, attendance at our events and sharing on our discussion board (through our website or via email); and reduced rates to other AAREP signature events including our Annual Awards Gala, and Annual Golf Outing. Lastly, AAREP members receive discounted registration for the Global Diversity Summit in Atlanta, GA for July 2008.
Each year, individuals and companies interested in joining AAREP after March 31, 2007 must due a benefit/cost analysis of joining during the last quarter of the program year. Events between April 1, 2007 through June 30, 2008, include our Awards Gala, Golf Outing and End of the Program Year Roof-top Event.
To enable companies/individuals joining AAREP in the last quarter of the program year to enjoy the benefits of AAREP membership, we have developed a new membership dues structure. Dues paid between April 1,2007 and June 30, 2009, will be 50% of current year’s dues plus next year’s dues as provided for in the below noted payment schedule. Again, the discounted rate only applies for that period and you will automatically have to pay for the following program year to receive the discounted rate.
Prior to making your online payment, you will be prompted to provide basic membership application information online. Please note that some questions are required to be completed, while others are optional. If your are signing up more than one person for membership, please include their names and email addresses in the last section of the membership questionnaire. You will be able to find a hard copy of the membership form online under the membership tab on our website, www.aarepdc.org. The African American Real Estate Professionals, Washington, D.C. Chapter, (AAREP DC) was established in 1995, as a 501 (c)(6) non-profit professional association with over 800 corporations and individuals participating in the Washington, DC Chapter. AAREP is primarily focused on those in the commercial real estate industry and has gained significant recognition throughout the Washington, D.C. Metropolitan area for the depth of our membership and successful lunch and evening programs, special events and our student outreach program (Minorities in Commercial Real Estate, MICRE). AAREP has chapters in Baltimore, North Carolina, New York and has new chapter charter interest in Atlanta, Chicago, Detroit, and the New England areas.
AAREP’s mission is to “lead in the intellectual, professional, and economic development of African American commercial real estate professionals.” Our membership represents every major discipline within the commercial real estate industry. Within AAREP, our members have strong capabilities in site selection and acquisition, financing, title investigations, project design and build, space leasing, property management, and are highly poised and see the benefits in being a member of the African American Real Estate Professionals, Washington, D.C. Chapter.
AAREP hosts informational, educational and networking programs that provide access to information on commercial and residential real estate market trends, industry related topics and employment opportunities. In addition to business development and entrepreneurship events, AAREP members are committed to returning the benefits of their success to the African American community through student outreach and career mentoring programs. AAREP’s goals and objectives are to provide our members with the following: Opportunities for meaningful interactions with others in the commercial real estate industry, on both a professional and personal level, through periodic meetings, programs and activities; Exposure and access to information regarding commercial real estate market trends, activities and industry-related topics; and educational programs to further advance members professional and personal development.
In addition, AAREP members have made a commitment to return the benefits of their success to the African American community through a variety of activities, including a student outreach/career mentoring program, the job bank and contributions to local charitable organizations and providing opportunities for members to make powerful business connections with other member companies. This has often resulted in joint ventures, partnering, etc. AAREP plans to have testimonials on our website to state the success of our networking.
