With Keynote Speaker: Former Chicago Mayor - Richard Daley

A "must attend" event for all those interested in exploring the opportunities, barriers and strategies for implementing innovative and sustainable stormwater technologies.

  • Explore innovative stormwater technologies that can create green jobs through development of new skills, competencies and training.
  • Listen to lessons learned from leaders in action sharing their expectations as they made the shift from theory to practice.
  • Learn how businesses can attract the best by having green policies and practices and demonstrate social responsibility.
  • Understand how to reduce liability and risk in this changing climate and economy.

Go outdoors and meet the designers, contractors and maintenance personnel when choosing from 1 of 6 field tours or learn from the experts on how to construct LID BMPs in our LID construction classroom.  Discuss your ideas for sustainability and the challenges you face.

The following activities are available to choose from:

Field Tour A: Streets Paved of Green - Check out local roads that incorporate stormwater infiltration practices, yet are cheaper to construct, help reduce flooding risks and build flexibility into the municipal stormwater system in light of climate change.

Field Tour B: Take a Crash Course at the Schools of Sustainability - Visit local schools that are educating their students on sustainable development by incorporating LID into their own properties.

Field Tour C: Protect Your Bottom Line by Reducing Your Risk with Pollution Prevention (P2) - Come see three local businesses that adopted P2 practices to minimize their risk and liability through the use of LID.

Field Tour D: Floating Island - It's Not an All-Inclusive Resort, but these islands could play a critical role to reduce water temperature and help improve water quality in stormwater ponds and connecting waterways.

Field Tour E: Living City Campus at Kortright - Tour Ontario's premiere environmental and renewable energy education and demonstration centre.

Classroom Session: LID Construction, Erosion and Sediment Control Guidelines - Good LID design does not mean good construction.  Learn from LID construction experts about the common construction errors and how they can be avoided with better plans and construction methods.

Early bird registration by Monday, September 12.

Final registration deadline is Friday, September 23.
