Nanosciences and clean technologies

http://yess2012.org/

Energy is the challenge of the 21st century. Clean, abundant, cheap energy, to satisfy the ever-growing needs of an ever-increasing world population. All problems we are facing, and we will face in the future, starvation, poverty, water availability, global warming, are in the end strongly linked to the energy problem.

Research is crucial, and international collaboration is essential for research. Even more in a field like this one, in which economical and political interests are tightly intertwined.

Objective of the Symposium

The Symposium we are organizing aims to starting new collaborations between France and the US, especially the San Francisco bay area, the cradle of clean technologies.

It will bring together senior and young researchers and engineers, to discuss global issues as well as recent advances in specific domains, such as PV, battery, CCS, energy efficiency, and thermoelectricity, around the use of nanotechnologies.

Nanotechnologies are at the heart of many of the recent progresses made in cleantech. By sharing our experience on their different applications, we aim to initiate new ideas and cross-disciplinary collaborations
