Raising Hope For Somalia's Crisis

Brothers and Sisters in Islam,
The Horn of Africa faces a catastrophe.
The worst drought in 60 years threatens the lives of more than 11 million people in Somalia.
Tens of thousands of lives have been claimed thus far.
The UN has declared that 640,000 Somali children are acutely malnourished.
While other estimates indicate 29,000 children under the age of 5 have died in the last 90 days in southern Somalia.
Allah Subhahanu Wa Ta'ala says,
"And We will surely test you with something of fear and hunger and a loss of wealth, lives and fruits, but give good tidings to the patient. Who, when disaster strikes them say, 'Indeed we belong to Allah, and indeed to Him we will return.'" (2:155-156)
While our brothers and sisters face the test of hunger during the month of Ramadan, we face the test of our wealth.
If you sacrifice some of your wealth for the sake of Allah, and help Somalia drought victims, you can
be sure that Allah will multiply your reward, either in this world or in the Hereafter.
Prophet Muhammad (saw) said:
"The best charity is that given in Ramadhan.”
(At-Tirmithi).

All proceeds collected at this event will be be sent to drought victims in Somalia through Human Concern International. All donations collected between July 6th and September 16th will be matched by the Government of Canada. Tax deductible receipts will be issued.
