Event Details

Czech composer Antonin Dvorak's music has been beloved in the United States ever since his brief residency in New York in the 1890's.  The Colorado Chamber Players explores the music of Dvorak written in the USA - his marvelous Viola Quintet in Eb, op. 97- as well as Dvorak's forbidden lifelong love of his wife's sister Josefina.

Dvorak's song cycle, Cypresses, was arranged by the composer for string quartet and dedicated to Josefina.

Spoken excerpts from Josef Škvorecký's novel "Dvorak in Love" and letters about Dvorak, will be included in the program, narrated by Curious Theatre actor Mare Trevathan.
