Jeremy Ayro Ellis is notorious for beat mechanic wizardry and he unleashes his talent here with a melange of hip-hop and jazz. An infectiously funky Fender Rhodes riff, glitchy beats, and buzzing synth lines meld to create a basement dwelling, head-bobbing vibe. Mercury Lounge
The Mercury Lounge has been a Mecca for the arts in Canada's capital city of Ottawa, since its inception in November 1996. Its programming purports a musical vision steeped in the traditions of jazz and yet forward in its approach to encompass all its many derivatives. Through its dynamic programming, the Mercury Lounge has successfully connected the dots, uniting jazz with contemporary electronic break beat culture. Within its walls the very philosophy of jazz, that of change, abounds. It serves not only as a club, and live venue, but also for poetry readings, dance performances and art gallery.
