Since we had so much fun at last year's Ross Conrad event, the Guild decided to make this an annual event. Join us for a full day of learning and conversation about Natural Beekeeping at our 2nd Annual Natural Beekeeping Symposium. We have lined up two amazing speakers for 2012 and they promise to make this a special day.

Our first speaker will be John Seaborn from Wolf Creek Apiaries in Tennessee. John has been keeping bees since 1968 and he has a tremendous amount of knowledge about the practical aspects of beekeeping. For the past 10 years or so John has been keeping bees on small-cell foundation and using only organic management techniques to steward his bees. If you'd like to whet your appetite for what John will bring us, there are a series of interviews with John posted here. John will be speaking to us on the ins and outs of "Small-Cell Beekeeping".

Our second speaker will be the inimitable Sam Comfort of Anarchy Apiaries, who is based in the Hudson Valley, NY (definitely take a few minutes to peruse Sam's website!). Sam got his feet wet in beekeeping working for commercial beekeepers and these days Sam's works mostly with Top Bar Hives. Sam is truly an advocate for the bees and at its core, his "Less Invasive Beekeeping" style shows the utmost respect for the bees. At our event, Sam will be telling us the story of Anarchy Apiaries and his development as a beekeeper. Sam has some great stories and a wealth of advice on Natural Beekeping. If we are lucky, we'll get him to sing us one of his awesome beekeeping ditties!

Once again we will be holding our event at the William Penn Charter School in Philadelphia. Included in the registration price is a box lunch with a vegetarian sandwich and some other goodies. We will also be holding a raffle for some amazing prizes including a 3-lb package of small-cell bees and a complete 8-frame garden hive. Please join us for this fantastic day of Natural Beekeeping!
