Event Details

Chalice Consort begins the 2008-2009 season with a program that features the Bay Area premiere of Pierre de Manchicourt's stunning Requiem. From its first bar, this neglected Franco-Flemish Renaissance masterpiece bathes the listener in strains of unearthly glory. In our performance, the polyphonic setting of the Requiem Mass Propers will be framed with appropriate liturgical chants. Motet: Audivi vocem de caelo Duarte Lobo (1563-1646)

I Heard a Voice from Heaven

Requiem Pierre de Manchicourt (1510-1564)

Manchicourt's polyphonic setting of the Requiem Mass Propers will framed by the

appropriate monophonic liturgical chants.

Motet: Versa est in luctum citharia mea Alonso Lobo (1555-1617)

My Harp is Tuned in Mourning

Written for the funeral of Philip II of Spain

I am the Bread of Life

November 8, 2008 - 8pm concert at St. Monica's Church at 470 24th Ave, San Francisco, CA 94121; Free Parking on 23rd & Geary Street at St. Monica's!

November 9, 2008 - 4pm concert at St. Paul's Episcopal Church at 114 Montecito Ave, Oakland, CA 94610; Free parking is across the street on Bay Place -- it's a city building used as a rec center/vet's hall. Otherwise, street parking.
