07.08.11 - The Space Shuttle Atlantis STS-135 is currently scheduled to launch at approximately 8:26 a.m. PDT on July 8, 2011. Members of the public are invited to the NASA Ames Conference Center to view the live, televised launch and to commemorate the end of the space shuttle program. Admission is free, but registration is required to obtain a ticket into the event. The doors will open at 7:30 a.m.
The final, historic lift-off of Atlantis will be televised live on a large screen in the ballroom of the NASA Ames Conference Center (building 3). The STS-135 mission will carry the Raffaello multipurpose logistics module to deliver supplies, logistics and spare parts to the International Space Station.
Admission into the event is free, but seating is limited. Visitors must register and get a ticket for each member of their party to enter the event.
Entry at the main gate for NASA and the Conference Center requires a government issued picture identification along with the ticket for the event. Visitors under the age of 18 must be accompanied by an adult with a government issued picture identification.
