Integrating Student Services to Create Powerful One Stop Models for Student Success

Tuesday, February 21, 2012|1-2 PM Eastern Time

Community college student services departments must continue to meet the changing needs of students, especially in this volatile economy. Student services departments provide a vital component in supporting the growth and vitality of a community college in terms of access, enrollment, retention, and completion. As students increase and resources become scarcer, the “One Stop” model of service delivery continues to grow in popularity as it morphs into a variety of configurations. Daniel Herbst, Dean of Student Affairs at Chandler-Gilbert Community College, and Karen Goos, Associate Dean of Student Development at Metropolitan Community College-Blue River, will team up to present this webinar.

Developing a "Big Picture" Model for Student Success

Wednesday, April 11, 2012 | 1-2 PM Eastern Time

Have you ever stepped back to take a good look at the entire picture of what our students experience at our colleges, in what order, and if they are or should be optional or mandatory? The purpose of this presentation is to understand the process of creating a visual Student Success Model, which should clarify for the entire college the experiences we provide and the outcomes we expect. In addition to sharing about a half dozen different models, the presentation will focus on the decisions you have to make and the steps it takes to develop your own model.

Often, we do what we do simply because it is what we have always done. Between our federal and state governments, we have greater demands to ensure college access to a diverse set of students while increasing course and degree completion rates and student persistence. By creating a Student Success Model, students understand what is

required for successful completion of their educational goals and employees understand their role and contribution to both the access and completion agendas. Dr. Deborah Garrett,Vice Chancellor for Student Services, Arkansas State University – Beebe, Beebe, Arkansas, will present this webinar.
