For The Public Safety Communications Personnel

 

This course is designed to familiarize the student with basic legal issues and relevant changes to statutory and/or case law which directly or potentially impact public safety communications operations.  Within a learner-centered, interactive classroom environment, the course provides the public safety dispatcher with an opportunity to discuss actions which have affected some day-to-day public safety communications operations.  The course will also address liability related issues such as standards in training, mandates specific to public safety dispatchers, dispatcher liability and analysis of specific vulnerability areas in the communications center such as the management of confidential and/or protected information.

APSD works in conjunction with existing law enforcement, fire/EMS associations and resources to bring the needs and concerns specific to communications to the forefront.  APSD is an independent, non-profit association made up of fire and law enforcement communications center managers, supervisors, phone and radio dispatchers in San Diego County.
