Frank Kerrigan: Pracital Integration Services for SQL Server 2005/8

Cut through the shinny new stuff and lets get straight to work with Integration Services with practical examples from conception to deployment. Touching subjects such as good design, pulling data from other data sources such as SQL server, ftp and UNIX flat file systems.

Martin Bell: How do you do - Hierarchies?

The most common way to model hierarchies in a relational database is to use the Adjacency List model, with the new hierarchyid in SQL Server 2008 should we all be using the Materialised Path model or now? In this presentation Martin will look the methods used for each method and the advantages and disadvantages of using each methods, so that you may decide which is the best for you!

Martin has been a freelance computer consultant in the UK for over 23 years. He has worked on many relational database systems and since the 1998 has specialized in SQL Server. He was first awarded Microsoft MVP (SQL Server) status in June 2003. Currently he organises the Scottish Area Meetings and is a founding organizer of the SQLBits Community Conferences.
