Common Boston: Fenway. Back Bay Fens: Vision and Revisions
Saturday, June 25, 2011 from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM (EDT)
This two-hour, roughly one-mile walk will explore what was once called “the foulest marsh and muddy flats to be found anywhere in Massachusetts.” We will visit this “landscape of change” that has been affected by Boston’s environmental, social and artistic evolution over the past two centuries. We will also examine the roles landscape architect Frederick Law Olmsted envisioned for this 100-acre portion of the Emerald Necklace and how its roles and appearance have evolved since Olmsted’s day.
When & Where
Common Boston (commonboston.org) Is a volunteer organization and committee of the Boston Society of Architects. Our Mission is to open up Boston in celebration of architecture and design in our neighborhoods, generating dialogue between designers and the public to create a more sustainable, equitable, creative, and inspiring urban environment.
During Common Boston Week 2013: May 30 - June 09 we will explore Boston through open tours, interactive events and discussion forums.
Most events are free and open to the public.
