Introductory Fabric Printing with Jay Dee Dearness

One Day Workshop – 24th of September, 2011

This workshop introduces and explores a variety of techniques for designing and printing onto a range of cotton clothes and fabrics.  Students will become skilled in the use of a range of printing techniques for printing permanent images on cotton material, canvas, t-shirts etc..  even book covers and wooden panels, almost anything flat and smooth!  Methods which will be covered over the one day workshop include stencil screenprinting and relief printing (lino printing) onto fabric.

Materials List:

-          4 metres of 100% natural fibre fabric (white or plain coloured – cotton, linen, calico etc), shirts if desired – washed and ironed (needs to sit flat when printing)

-         Closed-in shoes

-          Apron or old clothes to wear

-         Images/ideas from sketchbook and photographs to work with
