From the President's Missed-Deadline Desk

MoPictive Friends,

Did you ever have one of those month's where you couldn't meet a deadline to save your life? Well, it's been happening to me of late. As of this writing, I'm two days late for a DV Magazine article, barely started a presentation for tomorrow and finally pulling together a Mopictive agenda.

Guess part of the problem is working at a home studio. Things to do and wife to answer, "Stop everything and get that stinkbug over my desk. I do the books and you do the bugs." And the constant flow of information from vendors who want to be reviewed in DV and Videography.

But here we are at our June meeting even with just 10 days notice.

I hope its worth it.

We're moving to Abel Cine's almost-complete space and hope that this might become our permanent location. Abel has remodeled completely, expanding to two floors creating a space with room for lots of seating as well as food. As you would expect, the AV capabilities will be superb.

Andy Shipsides, Abel's trainer par excellance, will show us some new arrivals including hopefully the Sony FS-100 Super35 AVCHD camcorder.

The special treat, though, comes from our past president Patrick Inhofer. Patrick will give a preview of DaVinci Resolve 8, due in June or July but will do so by actually grading a short in front of us. That's why the agenda may appear short, but the better part of our meeting will be devoted not just to the operation of the program but to the realities of color grading.

FCP X is due any time now. We'll have some kind of special session over the summer dealing only with FCP X and hope it will be a massive presentation including neighboring user groups. Stay tuned.
