The Pacific Northwest Color Management Users Group presents:
Lightroom, Photoshop, and the Color Managed Workflow
with Mark Fitzgerald
Adobe’s newest kid on the block, Adobe Photoshop Lightroom, has changed the way photographers work. The intuitive interface creates a streamlined workflow that allows photographers to catalog and process large groups of images much more efficiently than the Bridge/Adobe Camera Raw/Photoshop system.
But not everything about Lightroom is intuitive. The traditional Photoshop approach to color management has been turned upside down. Instead of applying profiles to images as they’re opened, Lightroom waits until the end of the workflow to manage color.
Mark Fitzgerald, author of Adobe Photoshop Lightroom and Photoshop Workflow Bible (Wiley), will take us through the complete Lightroom 2 workflow. He’ll discuss everything from importing and keywording camera raw files; to using the Develop module’s non-destructive editing tools to quickly fine-tune groups of images. Mark will also compare and contrast Lightroom’s numerous output options, revealing their strengths and weaknesses. Finally, Mark will discuss strategies for keeping Lightroom and Photoshop on the same page so that changes in one program are seen by the other.
If you’re curious about Lightroom, this is your chance to see it in action. If you’re already using Lightroom this is your chance to see the complete workflow demonstrated by an expert. It’s also your chance to learn about some of the many cool new tools and features in Lightroom 2, which was officially released only a few weeks ago.
Mark Fitzgerald is an Adobe Certified Photoshop CS3 Expert and an Adobe Certified Photoshop CS3 Instructor. He is also the author of Photoshop CS3 Restoration and Retouching Bible (Wiley). Mark specializes in helping professional photographers manage their workflows through workshops and private training. You can learn more about Mark at www.ddroom.com
