WHAT Nan Tien Temple will commemorate the birth of Sakyamuni Buddha with a Family Festival at Crown St Mall on Saturday 21st May 2011 from 10.00am – 4.00pm. The event kicks off with a Chinese Lion Dance to launch the Official Ceremony which will be held from 11.00am-12.20pm. Amongst all the multi-cultural entertainment, the Festival will feature market stalls including an array of vegetarian food, Buddhist arts and crafts, temple souvenirs, kid’s corner, art competition display, tea chan as well as Tai Chi Demonstrations and participation. By "bringing the temple to the people" shoppers have access to multi-cultural activities and can immerse themselves in the Buddhist way of life by wandering through the “History of the Buddha” and the “Bathing the Buddha Ceremony” displays. Entry to the event is free of charge and aims to promote peace and harmony in our society and multi-faith interaction amongst people from diverse backgrounds.
