“Seeds for El Hatillo” video project

Date:                          Thursday, 28 April 2011
Location:                   MUB Theater I, University of New Hampshire, Durham
Time:                          4:00-5:00pm  (Seminar)

                                    5:00-7:00pm  (reception held at Ballard’s)

Enough about widgets and patents – time to talk about Creative Works!

Many intellectual property and technology transfer offices (such as the ORPC) were established based on research in the life sciences and physical sciences and focus on the commercialization of “technical” inventions. As a result, these offices often under-serve a significant percentage of the campus population and miss the opportunity to support and engage faculty in the areas such as the social sciences, liberal arts, and cooperative extension. The April Seminar will talk about Creative Works at UNH – what are Creative Works, how are Creative Works protected, building a commercialization program around Creative Works, and what the ORPC can do to support your work/research/interest in this area.

We have invited David Ripley, UNH Professor of Music, to share his experiences with intellectual property issues as he develops a music video entitled “Seeds for El Hatillo” that incorporates his original music and lyrics, UNH student performances, and photographs of villagers from El Hatillo, Nicaragua. David will be premiering his music on May 3, 2011 at UNH, but we will have a preview during the seminar.

Notes:

  • As always, the Innovation Catalyst Seminar is open to EVERYONE.  Invite your friends and help us make this the best networking event in the state.
  • Parking is available in C-lot for $1/hour and is free after 6pm.  Don't test our parking enforcement crew—pay the extra buck so that you're OK past 6pm.  In previous months, several attendees made a generous unplanned donation to the UNH Parking fund by cutting it close.
  • Registration is not required but we encourage you to use our EventBrite registration site which helps in our planning.
