"Capital Bikeshare, the Good, the Great and the Challenges"  Gabe Klein, DDOT and Alison Cohen, Alta Bicycle Share

Come hear how Washington, DC became the first city in North America to have advanced bike sharing. Hear how it was able to grow a small pilot program into Capital Bikeshare, the nation's largest system with over 1000 bikes, on which 300,000 rides have been taken.

On Monday April 25, 2011, Bike Share Philadelphia and Alta Bicycle Share will sponsor a talk by Gabe Klein, the newly appointed Commissioner of Chicago DOT and ex-Director of the District of Columbia DOT and Alison Cohen, President of Alta Bicycle Share, which operates Capital Bikeshare.

Mr. Klein, under former Mayor Fenty, was responsible for pushing many of the bicycle infrastructure improvements in Washington, DC such as the iconic Pennsylvania cycletrack and 15th Street contra-flow lane.
