Due to the rains and cool weather, Open Space Authority is extending the hike season on Coyote Ridge. Come enjoy this rare serpentine habitat with endangered butterflies, threatened and rare plants, and knowledgeable and enthusiastic docents.  This 5 mile hike up and back has about 1000 foot elevation gain with lots of stops to talk about the plants and animals. Don't forget your camera for the amazing views and a chance to get a shot of the Endangered Bay Checkerspot Butterfly.

This hike starts at 9 am. The Landfill is closed on Sunday so you will meet Docents at the gate at 8:45 am. Please do not be later than 9 am because once the hike starts there will be no one at the gate to let you in. Due to the sensitive nature of this habitat and the rugged terrain, please no children under 8 years old. Sorry, no pets.

Take Hwy 101 south toward Morgan Hill. Take the Coyote Cr Golf Drive exit. Turn away from the golf course toward the landfill. Please meet the docent at the front gate and they will check you in and let you in. Once inside, you will go voer 3 speed bumps. After the 3rd, look to the left for the trail head. Please park as close as comfortable to the person next to you. Bring water and a snack and  a hat that ties down (windy up top sometimes). Don't forget your camera!
