Thursday, May 26, 2011 at 7:00 PM - Friday, May 27, 2011 at 1:00 AM (BST)
Edinburgh, United Kingdom
A change of venue this month, with a higher capacity and a better projector/soundsystem/stage.
The venue opens at 7pm, with talks starting at 7.30pm sharp. The bar is open till 1am so stick around for a drink and a chat afterwards.
We have two speakers for you this time:
Talk: Experience vs. Experience
“If you want the Internet to be everywhere, it has to be visible nowhere. It has to be unseen, unnoticed, undiscussed.” – David St. Charles CEO Integrated Systems Inc (1996)
In 1996 I read this and understood that the future of interaction design was not in the browser or on the internet, rather it was in the experience of being connected. Some fifteen years on I want to examine whether a preoccupation with browser based usability is limiting creative thinking on the nature of our interaction with connectivity.
Talk: The Red Queen's Race
Having a brilliant idea for The Next Big Thing, is only the first step towards building, launching and improving a successful product. You'll have to make ongoing and difficult strategic decisions about what your app does, who it's for and how it'll work. All in a dog eat dog competitive landscape. Tough break kid.
So where do you even start, and where will you stop, if ever? How do you get people engaged and how do you act on their feedback?
In this practical talk, Roan will be drawing on his own experience of founding FreeAgent, to examine the decision making process that leads to a great product.
When & Where
Refresh Edinburgh is a community of web developers and designers interested in cutting-edge web technologies. We want to gather great minds, share our knowledge, promote local talent, and be more than we think we can be. We also want to drink and talk geek.
