Thursday, September 11, 2008 from 12:15 PM - 12:45 PM (ET)
You can't stop a winter storm. You can't predict a house fire. You can't control a thunderstorm. But you can be ready.
Disaster can strike quickly and without warning. It can force you to evacuate your home, neighborhood, workplace or school or can confine you to your residence. What would you do if basic services – water, gas, electricity or telephones – were cut off?
Local officials and relief workers will be on the scene after a disaster, but they cannot reach everyone right away. The best way to make you and your family safer is to be prepared before disaster strikes.
September is National Preparedness Month 2008. The Red Cross encourages you to enhance your personal and community preparedness by attending this 30-minute "Be Red Cross Ready" presentation.
Bring your bag lunch for this "Lunch n' Learn" session. Cookies and coffee/tea provided.
A door prize of a "Car Preparedness Kit" will be given away.
