What does “Creative Communities” mean to you?

The term refers to communities that learn to sustain themselves by attracting artists, writers and craftspeople to do their creative work in a small town setting. Quality of Life! is what people crave in this fast paced 21st century - and communities across this region and around the nation are becoming aware that they have just that.

In historic Greensboro, a picturesque old pottery town on the banks of the Monongahela River, resident and regional artists and community leaders are doing some pretty amazing things and actively works to share and discuss these with others.

Thanks to the marketing freedom of the Internet, creative industries flourish in rural communities, as artists trade hectic for tranquil.

Greensboro hosts an annual Creative Communities Conference and festival —Art Blast on the Mon - over Labor Day weekend. This year, the conference have been expanded into a series of Second Saturday seminars, each focusing on a vital piece of the Creative Communities puzzle. Designed to link artists, community leaders and educators to sources for growth and development, through marketing strategies, educational opportunities and how to best serve a diverse population from children to seniors to the disabled.

There is also a chance to learn from other artists and even try your hand at a new medium. Come to Greensboro and learn firsthand - there’s a bright streak of creativity in us all.   So come on down and help make this a valuable group to discuss these topics (bring a friend or two!)

Creative Community Seminars are sponsored in cooperation with the Nathanael Greene Historical Foundation, and the generous donations of Community Foundation of Greene County, Pittsburgh 250 Community Connections and The Sprout Fund. Nathanael Greene Historical Foundation is a 501-C3 non-profit organization. All proceeds from these events go directly toward more events like these.

STUDENTS: We have added a discounted Student registration so we can get you young people interested in these seminars as well. After all money is money, even if it is your parents'.
