Hear about the CPLP (ASTD's certification program)

from those in the Know

Our Next Trainers' SIG will be all about the ASTD national certificate program, CPLP-Certified Professional in Learning & Performance.  Come and hear local CPLPs Cary Campen, Manager of ERP and National Accounts Training at T-Mobile and Sunny Lucia, Training Consultant at Pemco (and Puget Sound Chapter Board member!) as they:

  • share best practices and lessons learned while studying
  • provide hints on submitting work products
  • describe their experiences sitting for the exam
  • tell how their certifications have supported their professional career growth.

Other CPLPs from around the country will also participate, remotely.

Margaret Murphy, Director of Professional and Business Programs at Bellevue Community College (BCC) will also be present, and describe her plans to provide training classes in support of the CPLP at BCC.

SIGs are Special Interest Groups (subgroups) of the Puget Sound Chapter that meet regularly and serve the needs and interests of members and focus on techniques and information relevant to the different functions in the field.

Our Trainers' SIG encompasses all aspects of training, learning, and performance. Recent topics have included developing web-based training, cultural competency, creativity and innovation, training techniques for generational diversity, and strengthening your voice as your most powerful tool.

DO NOT USE THIS - ASTD PS - Research Council

PLEASE ONLY USE THE MAIN ASTD PS HOST

The purpose of the Chapter's Applied Research Council's is to advance the Workplace Learning and Performance (WLP) profession by providing high-quality learning programs for Chapter members on how to conduct effective WLP-related research. Applied research in the WLP field includes both "front-end" research, such as needs assessment and organizational diagnosis, and evaluation research of learning program outcomes. The front-end applied research leads to better learning and performance improvement outcomes, and the documentation and reporting of outcomes improves the credibility and visibility of the profession as well as promoting continuous learning.

In 2009 the focus will be on a series of learning programs to build member skills in evaluation research, with a particular emphasis on calculating Return-on-Investment (ROI).

The 2009 ARC Meetings usually start with registration at 7:30 AM, and the programs run from 7:45 AM to 8:45 AM. Dates & Locations are TBD.
