TACSI invites you to a special meetup for social entrepreneurs in Adelaide, featuring a talk by Tom Dawkins, former co-founder of Australian youth media portal Vibewire, who now lives and works in San Francisco. Tom just launched Start Some Good, an international online platform which helps social entrepreneurs get access to the support and funding they need to bring their ideas to life.

Not sure if you're a social entrepreneur? Ashoka defines social entrepreneurs as:

"individuals with innovative solutions to society’s most pressing social problems. They are ambitious and persistent, tackling major social issues and offering new ideas for wide-scale change. Rather than leaving societal needs to the government or business sectors, social entrepreneurs find what is not working and solve the problem by changing the system, spreading the solution, and persuading entire societies to take new leaps."

So whether you think of yourself as a social entrepreneur, or a changemaker, or just someone trying to do something different to solve a social problem, this meetup is for you! Tom will be talking about what he's learned in his journey as a serial social entreprenuer, and the newly launched Start Some Good, and how it might help you get support or funding for your great idea!

This is intended to be a very casual and friendly event. Come along & meet other Adelaideans who are working on their own projects for doing good. Swap ideas, share how you solved problems, vent about what's frustrating you, and just meet other people and know that you're not alone in trying to make some good happen. :)

We'll kick things off at 5.15pm, and Tom's talk will start at 5.30pm. This event is wheelchair accessible via the laneway behind the Crown & Sceptre.
