There seem to be an awful lot of people out there who think they're not creative; and a lot who think they are, but can't seem to tap into it as much as they'd like. Personally, I believe we're all creative, but fear holds us back. We're afraid that what we create will not be good enough, or we're afraid of judgement from others. And then there are the other things that thwart our creativity: tv, the laundry, the internet, kids, parents, Johnny Depp... all of those everyday distractions.
Whether you are a blocked artist, an artist who wants to take your creativity to the next level, or someone who just wishes they could be more creative, this class is for you.
We'll use Julie Cameron's book "The Artist's Way" as a foundation, and add creative exercises using my experience as an artist and an art coach to help you "discover and recover your creative self".
The Artist's Way is a powerful program that will remove obstacles that can block your creative energy.
Here's the deal: This will require a commitment of time and energy - and it is worth it. You will need to carve out at least 30 minutes a day - every day - and an additional 30-60 minutes once or twice a week. So we're looking at 5-6 hours a week in addition to the Sunday classes.
Also, you'll need to get a copy of The Artist's Way, and some sort of a journal (doesn't have to be fancy - it can just be a spiral notebook).
We'll meet Sundays 11am-1pm (skipping 3/31 for Easter). If you're feeling creative after each class, feel free to stay for Paint Club at no extra cost (when you bring your own supplies, or a discounted rate if you need to use our supplies.) Paint Club starts at 2pm, so we'll have an hour break in between.
