Films in this program: Not For Today, But For All Time, Teresa, This Bus Everyday, Ropies, Age Inappropriate, No One Island, & Alicja Wonderland

Not For Today, But For All Time - This film dramatizes the difficult message of a cultural motion picture heritage under the very real threat of extinction. Referencing the theatres that have been gathering places since our childhoods and the movies we experienced alongside close friends and family, the film urges audiences to aid in the preservation of “that which reflects the best in us.” Whereas those movies and theatres may be forever entwined with the memories that make us who we are, time and economics work against them; and so the duty of preservation for the future falls to us now in the present. For once a film’s “light forever vanishes” or a theatre “slips into darkness... we lose a part of who we are--not just for today, but for all time...” A Film by Ethan Knightchilde / Denver, CO / 4 min.

Teresa – Teresa Nguyen thinks about the same things most girls do in high school: independence, boys, college, prom, but she is anything but your average teen. Teresa has a moderate form of Osteogenesis Imperfecta, a disease that causes brittle bones.  However, this debilitating disease does not define her.  In this half hour documentary, Teresa’s story will inspire and challenge you to view life from a completely new perspective.  A short documentary by Matthew Bowler, Cortni Mullin, & Jeff Mullin / Denver, CO / 29 min.

This Bus, Everyday – 'I ride this bus every day. And every day I think about my life: my family, my parents, my childhood.' So begins this quietly powerful, short film about life, reflection and the meaning our memories can bring to our lives. A film by Todd Tinkham / Chapel Hill, NC / 5 min.

Ropies – The schoolyard pecking order is determined by a rough game of tetherball. Henry, an outsider, sits and observes from a distance, until one day when he can no longer stand the violent competition.  A film by Andrew Houston & Nick Jarvis / Denver, CO / 10 min.

Age Inappropriate – On the surface Age Inappropriate is a bold and highly stylized tragi-comic tale about Jimmy and Dutch, two men in their mid-30s involved with much younger women. But it's also a multi-leveled allegory, featuring guest appearances by greed, envy, sloth, and the other so-called deadly sins as personified by the various characters and presided over by Lucifer him (or is it her?) self.  A film by Brendan Davis / California, USA / 25 min. / WARNING: This film does contain some graphic adult situations.

No One Island – By all accounts, Sydney seems to have it all: a beautiful home, a wonderful career, and numerous, well to do friends who are never in short in supply. But appearances can be deceiving, as Sydney is not who she seems.  No One Island is a drama about death, forgiveness, and redemption. Each member of the Grannell family must come to terms with their past, learn to heal, and also realize that the bonds of family never die; but are forever connected in the world of the living and quite possibly, even after death.  A film by Stacy Marr / Marina del Rey, CA / 20 min.

Alicja Wonderland – You will see, you will love me too.  A film by Martin Gauvreau / London, UK / 20 min

Total Time – 113 min
