• What it means to be a member of a H.S. Cooperative.
• What other H.S. Cooperatives are doing.
• The proven steps to set up a H.S. Cooperative.
• How governing your own company gives you choice and power over services and your life.

MICROBOARDS:

• What a microboard is and is not.
• An overview of the process used to help individuals and their families create microboards
• Examples of microboard success stories
• Pitfalls that microboards can avoid in order to prosper
• How to get involved in the Managing the Art of Living project

Managing the Art of Living

Managing the Art of Living is a project sponsored by the Illinois Council on Developmental Disabilities.

The project offers self-advocates, families and friends the opportunity to create Microboards and Human Service Cooperatives.

These consumer-governed structures bring resources, authority and responsibility directly into the hands of the people whose lives are most affected by the way support services are organized.
