The Maryland General Assembly 2011 Session adjourns on April 11th after considering more than 2300 bills.  Your advocacy team will give you the inside track on what the legislature did this session that impacts green building and sustainable business:

We will give a preview of the new green building laws that go into effect on October 1, 2011. And, of greatest import, we will share our insights into the economic opportunities created by the new green building laws enacted during the 90 day session.

Some General Info:

During the 2011 regular session of the General Assembly, legislators introduced a total of 2,353 bills on which 998 originated in the Senate and 1,355 came from the House of Delegates. Seventeen joint resolutions were also considered.

By midnight on sine die, Apirl 11, the General Assembly had passed 707 bills.  Of the oassed legislation, 319 were Senate bills and 388 were House bills.  Only one joint resolution was successful.

At the first bill signing on April 12, known as the sine die bill signing, the Governor signed a total of 163 bills. At a bill signing, each bill is given a chapter number, indicated by Ch. and a a number given in the order of signing, denoting that the bill is a part of the Session Laws of that particular year.  Laws become effective on the date soecified at the end of each bill.  Additional Bill signings are scheduled for Tuesday, May 10 at 10:00 AM; Thursday, May 19 at 10:00 AM.
