Event Details

Please join the CWEA San Diego Section for a dinner meeting at the Santee Lakes clubhouse. Come out, meet and greet with section members, enjoy a catered dinner and a presentation by the Padre Dam MWD.  The District will be presenting information on its Cottonwood Creek Diversion Project- voted CWEA-SDS Engineering Award for 2010.

"In 2010, Padre Dam engineers completed a $1 million upgrade to the Cottonwood Diversion Structure, replacing sand bags and a manually adjusted plug with two automated, solar powered valves remotely operated through Padre Dam's electronic monitoring (SCADA) system.

The award winning aspect of the upgrade is that it also allows Padre Dam to import wastewater flows from the County's system during the night, when wastewater flows decrease, in order to provide a maximized, two million gallon per day wastewater flow into Padre Dam's water recycling facility on a 24 hour basis. This improvement will increase recycled water sales by approximatley $128,000 per year. It wil also reduce the cost of expanding the water recycling facility by approximatley $2 million."
