Event Details

trafficDoes traffic have you in a tizzy? Are you losing clients to other counties because there is no commute solution? Transportation continues to be the #1 concern of Marin County residents. Get the INSIDE scoop from Marin County's transportation expert, Dianne Steinhauser, the foremost expert on public transit and alternative transportation modes. Dianne serves as the Executive Director of the Transportation Authority of Marin (TAM) and WCR members and guests are very fortunate to hear her speak about a topic that has us all confused and heated. We will have the opportunity to hear first hand what is being proposed in Marin.

Dianne will address:

Highway completion, design and plans for the future.

SMART and the future and necessity of rail in Marin.

The present and future of public transportation in Marin.

Any other pertinent issues around transportation.

Dianne Steinhauser has spent over 25 years managing transportation in the Bay Area. She has worked very effectively with CalTrans to manage multi-million dollar construction projects such as the Highway 101 Gap Closure. She is also instrumental in securing over $100 million in Infrastructure bond funds for the I-580/101 connecto widening and the Marin/Sonoma Narrows. Under Dianne's leadership, TAM has made great strides in the area of public transit and alternative transportation modes. She and her team have completed the bike/pedestrian path design over Puerto Suello Hill and has begun development of a first-ever bike/pedestrian path maintenance strategy to address deteriorating path systems in Marin County.

Prior to joining TAM, Dianne served as the Deputy Director for Capital Projects for the SF County Transportation Authority and spent four years at the Metropolitan Transportation Commission (MTC). Before MTC, Dianne spent 20 years at Caltrans working as an engineer and manager of projects around the Bay Area and rose to the level of Deputy Director. In addition to managing large and complex highway projects, she also managed a number of innovative environmental processes, working in cooperation with advocacy groups.

She brings a robust background in engineering management to the position of Executive Director, coupled with detailed knowledge of funding programs at the federal, state, and regional level. Her experience in assessing and responding to transit operating needs while at MTC is also critical background for her role at TAM.
