The Pradagi Foundation and Malcolm X College are proud to announce the first event in the “Keep Success PURE” Music Seminar Series. The seminars are a partnership between Malcolm X and Pradagi, and is sponsored by OurStage.com. 

The seminar series is designed to give Chicago musicians, music consumers, and aspiring industry professionals a time and place to explore the many issues that affect those working in the music business in today’s ever-changing marketplace. The seminars will be held monthly at Malcolm X College (1900 W. Van Buren, Chicago, IL, 60612) beginning on Friday, August 22, 2008. They will feature interactive panel discussions with Chicago music industry insiders as well as live performances by select area artists. The goal is to empower all those who attend to attain educational, economic, and career success. 

The first seminar on August 22, 2008 at 6PM in Malcolm X College’s Bruce K. Hayden Theater will launch the series with a discussion of “Can Our Band Make It In Chicago? – Connecting The Dots: Finding Your Way And Getting Noticed In Chicago’s Music Industry.” The first part of the event will be a chance for attendees to interact with a panel of industry experts that will include: 

 Martin Atkins - Recording Artist (Ministry, Nine Inch Nails), Lecturer, Author ("Tour:Smart")

Shawn Murphy - Midwest Director, ASCAP

Damon Smith - Publicist - Hip Hop Artist, Mr. Greenweedz (All Natural, Inc.), Faculty Advisor, Columbia Urban Music Association

Earl Powell - Music Producer (Jennifer Hudson, Chamillionaire, Cherish, Syleena Johnson)

 

The second part of the evening is devoted to Chicago Music and its eclectic array of music artists and performers. 

Our first seminar will feature live musical performances by hip hop artist MC Longshot (www.mclongshot.com) and musical groups Strive (www.myspace.com/strive), and Flowers For Dorian (www.myspace.com/flowersfordorian
